Aquatic survival hit Raft rolls out of early access with its biggest update ever

Shortly after its launch in 2018, the cooperative survival adventure Raft (opens in a new tab) became very popular very quickly. This came as a surprise to the three-person development team at the time, who were just making a game for their college course. (opens in a new tab)but they shrugged off that and turned their unexpected success into an entire development career under the Redbeet Interactive name.

Raft is a survival game where you and a few friends struggle to survive in a flooded world. Drifting from island to island, your job is to upgrade and rebuild your titular raft into something of a floating fortress.

Now, four years later, Raft is a much bigger game with more to offer than when it first won hearts: it’s even finished! Launching today with the biggest update in Raft history, Version 1.0: The Final Chapter (opens in a new tab) adds the final bits of Raft’s slowly evolving storyline spread across three new locations to explore. One is a skyscraper overlooking the waves, another an arctic research station, and the third is a secret until you find it. To make all the new parts fit, the developers overhauled the existing story to make sure it’s smoother than it was.

Of course, the update also contains all kinds of new features. New enemies, such as polar bears and giant anglerfish, will appear. There are also new Rafters to play with, with four new character models to unlock and new outfits for old and new. That’s alongside a literal boatload of new parts, tools, and tinkering things.

You can consult Rafting on Steam (opens in a new tab) or on his official site (opens in a new tab).
