Viewing and listening habits have changed dramatically over the past decade. Consumers have set aside CDs, DVDs and programmed programs for subscription entertainment services such as Netflix and Spotify which are streamed online from vast server warehouses.

After a slow start, the video game industry is catching up with the rest of the entertainment sector.

The global cloud gaming market will grow from around $1 billion in 2020 to $12 billion in 2026, according to technology research firm Omdia.

Media consultants and analysts say the growth is due to increased consumer demand and increased investment from major console makers – Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo – to expand the reach of their games. They also point to the impetus given by a rapid increase in Internet-connected devices and the deployment of fifth-generation, 5G, high-speed mobile networks.

Initial predictions that cloud gaming might be a “console killer” were wrong. In fact, cloud gaming diversifies revenue for console makers and helps them reach new customers. “Ironically, console makers are driving the cloud [gaming]says George Jijiashvili, senior analyst at Omdia and gaming expert.

Cloud gaming expands the appeal of video games by increasing the number of devices on which games can be played, including not only consoles but also smartphones, tablets, PCs and smart TVs. Only a decent internet connection is needed.

“It’s similar to Netflix’s business model,” says Jeff Youssef, partner and media expert at Oliver Wyman, a consulting firm. Another benefit may be the collection of better customer data, he adds.

Services range from free, with the option to pay for additional features, to $10 or more per month for new premium games and a larger game library. Customers can also download games to consoles.

Microsoft’s Xbox is the undisputed leader in the cloud gaming market, Jijiashvili said, helped by the popularity of its console and its major cloud computing company, Azure.

At the end of 2021, Microsoft and Sony accounted for nearly three-quarters of total cloud gaming market revenue, according to Omdia.

In April, Satya Nadella, president and CEO of Microsoft, said more than 10 million people had streamed Xbox games.

The next growth tech markets in cloud gaming

Countries to watch 2022-2026

South Korea Prominent in esports and the metaverse, thanks in part to government support. Many developers are now focusing on play-to-earn formats, where players can accumulate cryptocurrency.

WE The largest console market and the source of most gaming innovation since the industry began.

China Competing with the United States for the largest overall gaming market, China is the undisputed leader in mobile gaming revenue.

Japan A bastion of consoles, Japan is beginning to embrace mobile gaming, with annual mobile gaming revenue expected to be 40% ($6.5 billion) higher in 2026 than in 2022.

Meanwhile, Sony, which makes the PlayStation console and was the first major console maker to provide a cloud gaming service, says cloud gaming “remains a critical part of our overall business strategy.” Its customers can stream hundreds of games through its “PlayStation Plus Premium” service at $17.99 per month.

As the market grows, console makers increasingly face competition from dozens of startups offering subscription-based cloud gaming, as well as game developers and tech giants. Amazon and Google both have cloud gaming services, although Google is due to shut down early next year, while Netflix’s vice president for games says the company is considering setting up a platform. form of cloud games.

The United States is by far the largest cloud gaming market, followed by China and the United Kingdom, according to Omdia. In terms of revenue, the U.S. market for cloud gaming subscription services is nearly five times larger than China, Jijiashvili says.

Chinese game companies are stepping up efforts to expand overseas by acquiring Western game companies and partnering with hardware manufacturers. The expansion comes as its home market has slowed due to regulatory restrictions on the industry.

In August, Tencent Games, part of technology company Tencent, until recently China’s most valuable company, and Logitech, a Swiss-based computer peripherals maker, said they were teaming up to develop a portable device that would support “multiple cloud gaming services”.

Cloud or console?

The perfect video game is a topic of endless debate. However, certain types of games, such as adventure and role-playing games, are better suited to be played in the cloud, says Omdia’s George Jijiashvili.

This is because they are less reliant on the quick “twitch” reactions required for “shooter” formats, where delays of a few milliseconds between pressing a button on the controller and a hit or punch landing or missing from the screen can ruin a game. Such “lag” has been one of the most common complaints about cloud gaming.

For now, graphics in console games are superior to cloud games, experts say. But that may change if developers start making games specifically for the cloud, rather than importing console games.

Such “native” cloud games could take advantage of the superior processing power of the cloud and allow hundreds or even thousands of people to play the same game simultaneously, says Phil Eisler, vice president and general manager of GeForce Now, a cloud gaming service from Nvidia. , which also manufactures the hardware used to process graphics in video games.

We’re not there yet, but there will be an “inflection point” when cloud-native games outperform console games, says Olivier Avaro at Blacknut.

Initially, China’s cloud gaming services mainly focused on its domestic market, sometimes bundled as a service in the county’s 5G network. “You might see some of China’s early attempts at cloud gaming as adding value to its 5G rollout,” says Neil Barbour, research analyst and gaming expert at S&P Global Market Intelligence, an information and financial technology provider.

For all cloud gaming companies, a key question is whether to try to increase revenue by increasing advertising.

In the case of mobile phones, it’s become the norm, with ads often blocking game features, says Stephen Bradley, managing director of Deloitte Consulting and gaming market expert.

But for “premium” paid games, there is “more resistance” to advertising among customers, he says.

Even if gamers are willing to accept more advertising in exchange for free or lower-cost games, experts doubt that advertising will become as important for streaming games as for TV or music. “I don’t think advertising will be able to balance the full cost of the cloud,” says Olivier Avaro, founder and CEO of Blacknut, a French cloud gaming service.

The sector is expected to grow steadily over the next decade, boosted by 5G, smart TVs and “casual gamers” who want more flexibility in how and where they play. But cloud gaming is unlikely to replace console anytime soon – if it ever does.

“It is still very early for [cloud gaming]says Omdia’s Jijiashvili. “It will become more and more important [and] will coexist with the console.

The Duplicate Bridge column is compiled weekly by news team reporter Dale Anderson. The print version ceased to appear on Saturdays in The Buffalo News in March 2020 when the pandemic forced local bridge clubs to halt head-to-head play.

These days, you can find it in two places online. Google “Duplicate Bridge” plus the current Saturday date and it should bring up a link to it on buffalonews.com, the Buffalo News website. Another place to find it is on Dale Anderson’s bridge blog at http://newsdupli.blogspot.com/

The deadline for submission of scores and reviews is Tuesday evening. Email danderson@buffnews.com or dahotwings@aol.com. The office phone is 716-849-4420.

A master of golden life, Dale Anderson has a career total of over 2,900 masterpoints. Still playing mostly online these days, he hasn’t encountered as much drama for his bridge blog as there was in face-to-face competition, but he does write occasionally about his quest for the next measure of achievement, Sapphire Life Master (3,500 points), and other bridge adventures here.

Playing in an online casino is something many in the UK love.

Innovative leaps in slot games, live casino games, sports betting and game shows make it an entertainment hub for adults looking for the next best thing.

The choice of games is truly breathtaking, but so is the selection of slots sites, and which one to choose?

Are all casinos built equal? And do they all have the same games? Why choose one casino over another? And what other things to watch out for?

In this article, we’ll take a look at the best slots sites to win, why they’re the best, and how you can separate the chaff from the wheat with our handy guide to the best slots sites to win.

What makes a slots site the best?

The best winning slots sites are not only about the games the host has and how much they can pay, but many other aspects as well.

The best slots sites to win are casinos that have relevant licenses, good terms and conditions, great customer support staff, and more.

Playing at a casino without the proper license could hamper your chances of making a withdrawal, and ambiguous terms and conditions could mean the difference between winning or losing.

Our criteria for the best online slots sites are rigorous, and yours should be too. As a paying customer, you deserve only the best, but sometimes the best choice isn’t so clear.

Take a look at our criteria for the best slots sites.

Safety and security

Safety and security should be at the top of your priority list as a sensible actor. Avoid sites that lack SSL encryption and ensure that you only use safe and secure payment methods

Licence

All of the best reputable slots sites have been licensed by the appropriate gaming authority. Gambling authorities like the UKGC are there for the protection of players, and obtaining a license is an important task.

If your casino is licensed by an authority such as the UKGC, you can rest assured that plenty of steps have been taken to your advantage.

High RTP slots

High RTP slots are a great indicator of whether or not a casino is giving the player a fair chance.

RTP stands for Return to Player, but what does it really mean? This figure is a theoretical return to the player over a certain number of spins, or the amount of money the game could return to the player in the form of winnings.

The RTP of a slot is a constant talking point. The values are calculated by simulating billions of spins, so for the short-term user the value may have no real merit. On the other hand, if the higher RTP variant could give you a better chance, then why wouldn’t you take it?

Jackpot Slots

A hearty selection of Jackpot slots never hurts.

Gaming studios like Microgaming, Relax Gaming, and Blueprint Gaming have plenty of games built into their Mega Moolah, Dream Drop, and Jackpot King mechanics, and the sums available can be astronomical.

Deposit Bonuses

The best slots sites to win are often the casinos with the best bonus offers.

Deposit bonuses are often the most popular, as they can effectively double the money you have available to play with.

Terms and conditions accompany these offers, so players should know how they work and how to wager funds before accepting a casino’s offers.

Sites like Fruityslots.com function as a casino comparison site for players who are unsure which casino is the best.

Fruity Slots has a comprehensive list of casinos with the best bonus offers, and all come with comprehensive expert reviews and details on what the bonus offers mean and how to beat the bets.

Latest New Online Slots

The best slots sites keep their slots up to date with the latest innovations from some of the best software providers in the industry.

The names might not mean much to the casual player, but if a casino has slots from providers like Relax Gaming, Nolimit City, Big Time Gaming, Pragmatic Play, and ELK Studios, then you’re halfway there. way to find a quality casino with quality games.

Slots volatility is seemingly on the rise with slots with more potential than ever before.

A few years ago a high volatility slot might have been considered a slot capable of paying out up to 2,000 times your stake, but now there are slots with exponentially greater maximum payouts!

This is why you are going to want a casino with only the latest and greatest. A pinch of luck and a spin, the new games could prove profitable

A selection of live casino games

Chances are you’ve been to a land-based casino, and if you were there, you probably played roulette, blackjack, or poker.

The best slots sites should have a huge selection of live casino games for their player base, and in some ways advancements in online gambling have made live casino games even better than land-based casino games. .

Games like Lightning Roulette “reinvent the wheel” in a sense with huge multipliers that pay far more than the standard 35:1, and Lightning Blackjack does the same with an improved version of the traditional game.

Game shows have also grown in popularity, with Monopoly Live, Crazy Time, Mega Ball and Deal or No Deal at the forefront of players’ minds when looking for live casino action from the comfort of their own home.

sports betting

Sports fans and gambling are often synonymous, because who doesn’t love betting?

Some online casinos are standalone casinos with casino games and live casino games, but some are pushing the boat out with a fully integrated sportsbook!

On the best casino sites you will find sports betting on football, UFC, American football, tennis, snooker, darts and much more! Some even offer E-sports, so DOTA and League of Legends fans rejoice!

Good design and mobile compatibility

There aren’t a lot of winnings to be won at a casino which makes finding games and playing games on mobile too complicated or even unplayable.

Desktop computers can no longer compete with the convenience and advancements of mobile technology. A site optimized for these users is therefore essential.

The best slots sites to win are those with a seamless user interface. Games should be easy to find, work well on mobile, and the site should be responsive and designed for mobile

Responsible gambling tools

Why is responsible gambling mentioned in an article on the best slots sites to win? Because it’s an important aspect of every gambling conversation, and sometimes the best way to win is to not gamble at all.

Fruity Slots is another example of how to balance gambling with responsible gambling with information and links to gamstop and other responsible gambling aids.

Sites like Fruity Slots only list casinos that meet the high standards of their respective authorities, but players should always be aware of the risk of gambling losses.

Here are some rules to follow when it comes to responsible gaming

– Only play with money you can afford to lose
– Take a break periodically. If you are winning big or feeling frustrated with the lack of winnings, you should quit. If it’s no longer fun, then why play?
– Set deposit limits, loss limits and do a reality check.
– Never gamble if you are under the influence of substances. Such things could cloud good judgment
– Don’t use the game as a form of escapism

FAQ: More information on the best slots sites to win

Does RTP really matter?

Some believe it, but others will say the opposite.

Before loading a game, you will probably be presented with its RTP value. To calculate this, the game provider had to simulate over a billion spins to calculate profit/loss, and the result is the theoretical return to player. Theoretical is the key word here, as the slot machine has the potential to pay out far more than you put in, or far less.

It’s good practice to choose a location with the best RTP because even if it only makes a slight difference, a difference in your favor is what you want

Are the best slots sites cryptocurrency sites?

Cryptocurrency sites have risen to prominence in recent months/years, but they are not always the best choice despite their lucrative bonus offers.

Cryptocurrency casinos are often unregulated, so everything could go wrong with your funds and you wouldn’t have any regulators on your side.

Is high volatility or low volatility better?

It all depends on what you hope to get out of your casino session! Low volatility slots are often more reliable with consistent but lower payouts, and higher volatility slots have the potential to pay a huge amount or nothing at all.

It’s a matter of risk vs reward in the end. If you’re looking to have a good time without anything too serious, then a low volatility slot might be right up your alley. If you are looking for big wins then high volatility slots or jackpot slots could be the game, but beware of the risks

What are the wagering requirements?

Wagering requirements are terms that dictate when bonus funds can become a real money balance, and to unlock it you will need to play.

Here is an example: Deposit £100 + Bonus £100 with 35 wagering requirements = £3,500 to wager before bonus money becomes cash. ID:498882:1false2false3false:!x!::from database desktop:LenBod:collect11142:

Despite the release of Forza and Halo Infinite, Xbox director Phil Spencer thinks Xbox exclusives are something the console lacks.

Spencer recently appeared on the Same Brain podcast to talk all things Xbox. After discussing what they are currently playing, the topic of the future of Xbox was brought up.

Co-host Jenna Ezerik asked Spencer, “What can you tell us about the future of Xbox, whether it’s games or ongoing partnerships?” Spencer’s response revolved around one of the biggest perceived weaknesses of the Xbox brand: first-party exclusives.

“One thing we’ve clearly heard loud and clear is that it’s been way too long since we released what people would say was a big first-party game,” Spencer replied. “We might have our apologies on Covid and stuff, but ultimately I know people are investing in our platform and want to have great games.”

People also read…

“We’re excited about 2023. You know, we’ve talked about upcoming games, and those games are going well. We’re kind of outside of what Covid (has done) for the production schedule. And as a industry, we’re starting – we’ve had fewer games this holiday for a while. You mention launches, Call of Duty is coming, God of War is coming, Nintendo has had a good year. In general, we’ve been a bit light, but I’m looking at 2023, and there’s a great lineup of games coming out that are releasing our first real first-party Xbox games from Bethesda.”

Many Hollywood stars have made famous video games out of it. Here are the best games with famous actors.

Spencer also touched on the company’s investment in the PC platform and the future of the Xbox Cloud, particularly with the Samsung TV partnership.

As far as exclusive releases go, Spencer’s take is perfect. The Nintendo Switch feels like it’s constantly releasing exclusives nonstop. Once 2022 is over, the Switch will have seen two versions of Pokemon, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Bayonetta 3 and others.

Sony continues to push the power of its exclusive lines, most recently with The Last of Us Remastered and, later this week, God of War Ragnarök.

For comparison, Xbox had a great year with the Xbox Game Pass releases. However, it’s been a disappointing story in terms of first-party exclusives. Forza Horizon 5 got an expansion release earlier this year. Halo Infinite has seen several updates, the biggest of which is coming soon. Beyond that, there’s not much to write home about.

To Spencer’s credit, 2023 is looking better on that front. Bethesda offers two first-party exclusives with Redfall and Starfield. Forza Motorsport 8 is slated for release in 2023. Help is on the way; it will just take a little time.

Deathloop, one of the games released by Bethesda after the Microsoft acquisition, came to Xbox this summer. It was previously a PlayStation 5 and PC exclusive title.

Naturally, the topic of buying Activision came up during the podcast.

Co-host Justine Ezerik asked Spencer, “The Activision news has been quite shocking to so many people, so how is this all going to pan out?”

“We’re in the regulatory process right now,” Spencer replied, “which means we don’t have any decision-making or authority over what Activision is doing…We expect that to end this fiscal year for Microsoft in June. I’m pretty confident in getting the deal done, I’m spending time with the regulators; I think they’re doing a good job asking questions.”

Although the calendar year ends in two months, Microsoft’s fiscal year extends to June 2023.

Spencer also mentioned the “treasure of games” regarding Activision Blizzard’s backlog. He also discussed the power of Activision Blizzard King’s mobile gaming, something in which Microsoft and Xbox have no reach.

He also reiterated that they will not be removing Call of Duty from PlayStation. “As long as there is a PlayStation, we will ship Call of Duty there.”

Although Spencer repeated those comments, Sony expressed continued concern over Microsoft’s ongoing deal with Activision Blizzard.

Rumors of Batman’s death have been hard to pin down. At the end of 2015’s Arkham Knight, the last major sighting of the Caped Crusader in video games, he appeared to perish in a fiery explosion only to be spotted alive in the final frames of the closing cutscene.

otham Knights offers no such ambiguity, killing the hero in the intro to establish why four acolytes have teamed up to protect the notorious crime-ridden city. As a gamble, it’s bold, supplanting the finely tuned combat rhythms of Batman’s finest hours with a less satisfying knockoff featuring more obscure characters.

This action-RPG – developed by Montreal studio Warner Bros rather than the usual London-based Rocksteady – features the novelty of optional two-player co-op as well as the freedom to switch between all four characters at any time. But none of Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl or Red Hood possess Batman’s brooding charisma – and even their moves struggle to eclipse their inspiration.

However, the team must first deal with the shock of finding the Dark Knight’s lifeless body in the ruins beneath Bruce Wayne’s mansion, murdered by nemesis Ra’s al Ghul. They swear to finish what Batman started, protect Gotham, and unravel the spiraling corruption case he was working on. The game offers a believable treatment of the foursome’s grief and houses beautiful writing expressing the anguish that resolves them to take up the mantle of Batman. It sometimes gets a bit lost in the weeds of lore, but for players who aren’t scholars of the Gotham universe.

Each night, one (or two if in co-op) of the four goes out on patrol to clean up the streets, jostling petty thugs while following leads on the main case. Here, Gotham Knights runs into two issues that undermine its appeal. The first is that unarmed combat lacks the smooth back-and-forth of Rocksteady’s Batman – where attack and counter-attack go hand in hand. An inconsistent frame rate exacerbates the problem. The second is that these nights of patrol begin to merge, with a lack of distinction in the architecture of the city.

Traversal is often awkward too, with a grappling hook allowing you to cover long distances, but regularly choosing the wrong anchor point as your objective.

Gotham Knights has the vibe of chefs playing with a few too many ingredients. There’s a lot to enjoy here, from heartfelt storytelling to pseudo-AR detective work. Intricate skill trees and challenges hide some of the most exciting special moves that elevate the final hours above the pack of opening missions.

But the repetitive brawls just aren’t polished enough to make up for the mundane stealth, and Night Patrols have a whiff of grind about them.

In short, even four minor heroes can’t replace the one and only Batman.

In the Grand Theft Auto games, players will receive quests from all sorts of characters, including unfortunately a few that they’d rather not bother with. At least some annoying quest givers are optional, but others are required for the story. While the player is at least compensated for most missions, they may find themselves wanting hazard pay for having to deal with such insufferable characters.

Given the criminal nature of Grand Theft Auto protagonists, it’s no surprise that they take jobs from many characters in their respective games. Most of the time, these missions come from various underworld connections, but some come from close associates or even complete strangers. Much like the series itself, these missions tend to get weird, especially when they’re not part of the main storyline. Grand Theft AutoThe many protagonists of have had their share of missions that ultimately felt like a waste of time.

Grand Theft Auto the games may offer some of the biggest sandboxes out there, but it’s not entirely a mix of thrilling shootouts and car chases. Sometimes the game forces the player to hang out with some really insufferable characters if they want to complete everything in the game. GTAless likable characters.

Zero from San Andreas gives the player boring and useless quests

To Zero’s credit, he’s far from the worst person to appear in a Grand Theft Auto Title. It’s not even clear if he has a criminal record before meeting CJ. However, it compensates for this by offering some of the most annoying and frustrating tasks in the game, including San Andreas‘ hated the Supply Lines mission. To make matters worse, his reasons for these missions are absolutely ridiculous.

Zero is an optional character whose missions the player can unlock by having CJ buy his struggling hobby shop. Zero has his own questline involving his feud with his rival, Berkley. The two have been feuding for years because Zero beat Berkley at a science fair. CJ rightly calls it ridiculous, but can still carry on Zero’s missions. These GTA the missions require the player to use a turret or one of Zero’s RC planes, which have rather unstable controls that add to the already high difficulty of the missions. They’re some of the most frustrating parts of the game, and the absurd nature of Zero and Berkley’s feud is more unnecessary than funny.

He should say something that even San Andreas‘ David Cross hates Zero’s missions, and he voiced the man. While he also partakes in the rather entertaining Casino Heist questline, Zero’s own missions are among San Andreas‘ most frustrating. Her feud with Berkley is a plot diversion without a satisfying payoff, and she could have been removed from the game without consequence.

Joe and Josef from GTA 5 are racist jerks not worth the player’s time

With Auto grand flight 5 being the quirky game that it is, many Strangers and Freaks missions lead the player to colorful characters. A good portion of them, like Mary Ann and Dom, lead to fun interactions and missions. However, Joe and Josef, the self-proclaimed civilian border patrol, doesn’t offer fun interactions or enjoyable missions.

Trevor is a weird man, so one would expect the missions exclusive to him to be weird in an entertaining way, akin to RDR2Strange and intriguing missions from abroad. However, Joe and Josef are utterly lacking in charisma characters that send the player off to some of the most boring GTA assignments. Their only real character trait is their racism, their only consistent joke being Josef’s obsession with America despite only speaking Russian. None of them are funny, and even Trevor doesn’t like them, only working with them because he gets paid. The only two missions they send Trevor on are all about harassing innocent people, so their missions aren’t even fun to make up for their unkindness and lack of entertainment value.

The only enjoyable mission involving Joe and Josef is their last appearance, where they are the enemies. The player is involved in a high-speed chase with Joe riding around on a tractor while Trevor pursues him with guns and angry talk. Trevor is not Auto grand theft 5is the better protagonist, but it’s hard not to cheer him against Joe in this fight. While the final questline mission is good, it doesn’t make up for having to spend time with such unlikable characters beforehand.

It’s shocking that GTA 4’s Vlad survived as long as he did

Grand Theft Auto 4 is considered the most pessimistic of GTA games, which is one of the reasons it’s considered an outsider compared to the zaniness of other titles in the series. In fact, other than Roman and Brucie, Niko doesn’t spend much time with lighthearted characters. Instead, the poor guy has to deal with a lot of nasty characters, with early game antagonist Vlad easily not only being the most hateful, but about as stupid as drunk driving. grand theft auto 4.

Related: Every GTA Online Heist, Ranked

Vlad was a member of the Russian mafia who extorted Niko’s cousin Roman at the start of the game. Given Niko’s protectiveness of his family, this already gives Vlad a fairly short lifespan. Instead of immediately going after Vlad, Niko ends up doing some jobs for him to try to convince him to leave Roman alone. In each of these GTA missions, Vlad is a huge jerk to Niko or anyone else, and not in a comedic way. The fact that he treats Niko and Roman terribly casts major doubt on his decision-making abilities, especially since he knows how dangerous Niko is due to the type of jobs he gives him. If the rumor Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster is coming, few gamers will likely be happy to work for Vlad again.

Vlad’s greatest condemnation as a character comes after his inevitable end at the hands of Niko. His bosses end up recruiting Niko rather than punishing him because they hated Vlad and saw him as a liability. Unduly arrogant and unnecessarily cruel, it’s almost a blessing that Vlad is only there to bully Niko and Roman for the game’s first two hours.

Grand Theft Auto the protagonists see several bosses during their adventures, from criminal masterminds to complete strangers. Even so, for every mission giver players like, there’s probably one they’d rather not associate with. When it comes to Grand Theft Autoone can only hope that the worst mission bosses can be safely avoided.

Writer-producer Chris Nee will be honored at the sixth annual Women in Animation (WIA) Diversity Awards alongside Iranian director Seyed Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib and representatives from Epic Games for their exemplary achievements in leading the efforts of diversification within the animation industry.

Nee’s career began as an associate producer at Sesame Street Intl., but her ultimate legacy lies in creating Disney Junior’s “Doc McStuffins” – the first preschool show to feature a young black girl using science, technology , engineering, and math (STEM), which 7-year-old Dottie “Doc” McStuffins uses to heal her injured toys.

More Variety

The show quickly became one of the most popular children’s television shows and leveraged its platform to positively influence viewers’ perceptions of black and female doctors, as well as break down boundaries as as the first Disney show to feature an interracial lesbian couple. Nee’s brainchild won a 2014 Peabody Award for Children’s Programming.

“As we get older, our priorities change, and nothing could make me more proud at this point in my career than to be recognized for working to bring new voices, diverse voices, to the table. Many thanks to WIA and Spark Animation Festival for this huge honor,” Nee said in a press release.

Each year, one person, one organization and one film are selected to be honored at the WIA Diversity Awards, held in partnership with the Spark Computer Graphics Society. Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib will be honored in the film category, following the success of his short film, “It’s a Grey, Gray World”. The six-minute animation follows a young man whose colorful identity is exposed in an all-gray monochrome world, inciting a journey of fear and near-arrest in the fight for free speech.

Epic Games was chosen as the organization category winner in recognition of the games and visual effects company’s efforts to make 3D engine technology accessible to a wider audience. The company’s MegaGrants program has also pledged to award between $5,000 and $500,000 to aspiring creators who use Unreal Engine and lack the financial foundation to start game development, architecture, film production and other disciplines.

This year’s awards will be presented by Jena Olson, Head of Operations at WIA, in a recorded tape that will be available online on October 27, the first day of the Spark Animation 2022 festival. The full Spark Animation 2022 event will take place in person and will air live October 27-30 from Vancouver, Canada.
