Here’s Total War: Warhammer 3’s Immortal Empires Surprisingly Large Map

Jeepers creepers, we know Total War: Warhammer 3 (opens in a new tab)The Immortal Empires map was going to be absolutely massive: but actually seeing it is something else entirely. In a new video posted on Youtube (opens in a new tab)the gravelly-voiced narrator of the Total War series narrates a 13-minute overview of the world of Warhammer Fantasy.

It’s a map of frankly shocking scale for a strategy game of this scale, complexity, and visual quality. It’s the kind of thing you would never expect to work, or assume could ever exist. I know it’s out in beta, but Immortal Empires is the realization of a game design dream that the developers at Creative Assembly have been working on for over six years now. The trailer cover shows this by going through character and soundtrack themes from three full games and dozens of prior DLCs.

Either way, the video jumps from location to location across the sprawling old world of Warhammer Fantasy and beyond. It features the demonic deserts of the south and north, the lands of the south, the lands of the east, Grand Cathay, Norsca, Albion, the dark elf Naggaroth, Ulthuan, the domain of Lizardman Lustria, sweeping the lands of the south, the badlands and the north in Bretonnia and the Empire. In the official description, in case you somehow missed it in the flyover, Creative Assembly clearly states that this map contains “86 Legendary Lords. 23 races. 533 regions. 278 starting factions”.

Last month we took a look at the map as a whole, but it’s only now that Creative Assembly has shown an in-game flyover of the map. Here’s what you’re looking at from above in the video:
