Sony released its latest State of Play today focusing on smaller indie games and once again showing off its timed PlayStation 5 console exclusivity Death loop. The company promised there wouldn’t be big news at the event, but even so, it was a bit of a nap party.

We’ve had a handful of announcements of new games, release dates, and trailers, but nothing has fundamentally changed the outlook for games on PS5 and PS4 in the second half of this year. I was hoping for at least a little surprise or two after Sony skipped E3’s all-digital comeback, but the relatively quiet showcase seems to measure up to the course at this point after the video game industry’s upheaval by the global pandemic in the past 16 months. Here’s what Sony showed:

A Foam: Book II is under construction.

Ratatouille’s cousin Stuart Little is back in a new PSVR adventure. Cute! Hopefully he finally finds his motorcycle.

Arcadegeddon is a new hero shooter game available today in Early Access.

Manufacturers of Predator: Hunting grounds and Friday the 13th: the game. This sparkling Splatoon-The high-speed multiplayer game was released for PS5 and PC in 2022.

We have seen more than Midgard Tribes.

The isometric action game looks indescribable but pretty. It comes out on July 27 and hopefully will help me out until Diablo IIis remastered.

FIST is a sleek side scrolling.

The cast looks straight out of Star Fox, but meaner. The game arrives on PS5 and PS4 on September 7th.

The cashing of the battle royale is not yet over.

Legends of the Hunter’s Arena is a live-service dress-up brawler where you battle demons and other players leaving Early Access on PC and arriving on PS4 and PS5 in August as part of PS Plus.

SIFU slaps again but was delayed.

Originally slated to come to PS4 and PS5 somewhere this year, the latest brawler from the creators of Absolver will be released in 2022 instead.

JETT: the distant coast possesses do not been delayed.

Cranky New Sci-Fi Adventure From The Creators Of The Spectacular Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is still on track to arrive on PS4 and PS5 before the end of the year and I can’t wait.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Chronicles of Hinokami is a mouthful.

Despite the hype I didn’t pay an ounce of attention to the popular Demon slayer lively. Sega’s video game adaptation intrigued me, however. It will be released on October 15 on PS4 and PS5.

Lost judgmentThe dog looks like a good little boy.

We have a new trailer for the 2019 crime thriller sequel Yakuza spin off Judgment. It looks like more Judgment.

The PS5 version of Death stranding arrives September 24.

Hideo Kojima’s “Director’s Cut” will feature new story missions, combat mechanics and a race mode. Upgrading from the PS4 version costs $ 10 and cross-save will be supported.

Just let me play Death loop already!

About a third of the showcase was dedicated exclusively to a demo of the upcoming immersive simulation from Microsoft’s Xbox studios. it still looks Arkane-Yes like hell and it hasn’t been delayed again. But I don’t want to hear anything else about this game until it’s in my hands and I actually play it.
