Original TMNT Voice Cast Returns For Shredder’s Revenge Video Game

The next video game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge does not exactly hide its influences. It is an updated version of Konami Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games, both based on the original TMNT animated series from 1987. And although 35 years have passed since the series premiered, the four actors who voiced the Turtles on that show are making a comeback.

IGN reports that Cam Clarke will reprise his role as Leonardo, alongside Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo, Barry Gordon as Donatello and Rob Paulsen as Raphael. Additionally, IGN kicked off the first 11 minutes of gameplay, which should sound very familiar to anyone who’s played Konami games before.

The first half of the video follows Leonardo and Michelangelo as they chase Bebop through the Channel 6 news building. Note that Vernon Fenwick is being held hostage in the background. It’s a role that was usually filled by April O’Neil on the show. However, April is a playable character in this game and she probably won’t be kidnapped…this time. The Turtles’ sensei, Splinter, is also a playable character.

For the second half of the video, Raphael and Donatello are in the spotlight as they catch up with Rocksteady. Again, the scene is very similar to the second area of Konami’s first TMNT Game. There is even a reminder to turtles in time when the guys throw an infantryman towards the screen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.
