People seem to think Death Stranding is heading to PC Game Pass
Microsoft’s PC Game Pass service Twitter account decided to change its profile picture and coyly drew attention to its mist-covered rocky background with a tweet. “Sometimes we just like a good landscape shot,” they said cryptically. If you’re familiar with Game Pass Twitter accounts, they like to do the flippant social media thing and tease followers. Well, this latest attempt has got people speculating that Sony’s trademark Death Stranding is about to hit PC Game Pass.
It didn’t take very long for twitterers to start posting the profile picture reasonably convincingly side-by-side with Death Stranding snaps. My favorite is Sam Porter Bridges tearing up with a big pee against the huge boulder in the foreground:

Others suggested the profile picture could be an image from the upcoming Senua Saga: Hellblade II. Some have pointed to the equally murky planetary environs of Bethesda star field. Like Death Stranding’s listing of Steam pages, Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC owns the trademark of Porter Bridges’ adventures through post-apocalyptic Scandmerica. If Death Stranding were to make it to any variety of Game Pass, it would probably have to be approved by the blue team first.
A Hideo Kojima game, developed by Kojima Productions, Death Stranding’s initial release on PS4 was released by Sony. 505 Games handled the PC game‘s release though, so the situation is slightly more complicated than it looks. Microsoft and Sony are currently bicker a little on accessing each other’s games, but a few of Sony’s MLB: The Show installments have already made their way to Game Pass.
Could this be the start of a thaw in relations between Microsoft and Sony around streaming games? It would seem like an odd move for Sony, but there might be something for them in return. As Graham reported yesterday, if the information pulled from Marvel’s Spider-Man is anything to go by, Sony might consider releasing its own PlayStation PC launcher in the future. So far, PC gamers looking to stream PlayStation games are limited to the relatively slim offerings of revamped PS Now.
Katharine had a great time reconnecting with Death Stranding when her Director’s Cut hit the PC earlier this year. “It’s a fantastic open world to get lost in,” she said, “and the way it asks you to assess and interact with its beautiful landscape also makes it one of the most open worlds around.” more appealing to date.” There are also plenty of places to get a satisfying pee.
