Tatler Asia Group hires Malaysian media veteran Marc Lourdes

Update: Lourdes will not be moving to Hong Kong and will still be based in Malaysia.

Marc Lourdes, Vice President of Astro and Head of Indian Content, has joined Tatler Asia Group as Regional Director of Digital Content. Over the past 17 years, Lourdes (pictured) has worked with various media companies around the world, focusing first on current affairs before becoming an all-round media leader. According to his LinkedIn, his experience spans print, digital and TV platforms.

Lourdes spent almost three years with Astro Malaysia. In his most recent role, Lourdes led Astro’s Indian content business, including original, signature and third-party content, on the company’s pay TV and digital platforms. He was also responsible for overhauling the company’s local Indian content offering where he tripled the OTT consumption of its segment and increased the division’s overall channel share. He first joined in 2018 as Vice President of Indian Content at CNN Digital Asia where he was based in Hong Kong as a Director.

While there, he led the CNN team in Hong Kong through content and programming for the company’s global audiences for more than two years, according to his LinkedIn. He was also responsible for designing and implementing strategies to increase key audiences in the region, working closely with and with CNN Asia. Besides Astro Malaysia and CNN, Lourdes also worked at Yahoo for five years. He first started as the Managing Director of Yahoo for Yahoo News digest in South East Asia before taking up the post of Editor-in-Chief in Singapore. He also spent over a decade as a journalist, working for publications such as The star and New times of the straits in Malaysia. In addition, Astro is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President, Head of Marketing and Digital Operations to lead the eGG Network brand and community, developing strategies across all channels. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the appointee will be responsible for the design and implementation of overall marketing and communications strategies. The aim is to promote the B2B and B2B activities of the eGG network in the region. Formerly known as Astro SuperSport Plus, eGG Network is a Malaysian pay-TV channel that focuses on e-sports and broadcasts e-game tournaments around the world.
