“What we didn’t want was a woman who constantly covets a man she can’t have”
One of The witcher The elements of the Netflix series are the brewed and fatal love story between Geralt and Yennefer. The mage and the witcher had sparks since they first met, but the inclusion of a jinn may have tied their fates together. In The witcher Season 2, Triss’ unrequited feelings for Geralt hinted at a love triangle.
But showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explains that the series won’t necessarily follow the same love story seen mostly in video games as it does in books.
Triss Shows Deeper Feelings For Geralt In ‘The Witcher’ Season 2
Triss plays another role that fans remember in the first season of the Netflix series. She arrives at Kaer Morhen and is more than familiar with Vesemir and the other witers. Triss has a previous history with them and Geralt. Geralt soon asks Triss to become Ciri’s advisor.
Geralt and Triss met during the Striga fight in The witcher. They have since developed a good friendship. Corn The witcher Season 2, they both deal with the aftermath of the Battle of Sodden Hill. In Episode 4, Triss shows deep feelings for Geralt when she asks him to stay overnight after a touching talk about feeling again.
But fans and even Triss know where Geralt’s heart really is, and he gently rejects Triss. But Hissrich explains in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the love triangle fans experience between the characters is not what fans expect.

In a video interview with Entertainment Tonight, Henry Cavill supports his choice as Team Yennefer. But for Hissrich, there is another story to tell. She explains that the love triangle between Triss, Yennefer and Geralt is just a focal point in video games. The series of books portray a special bond between Geralt and Triss, with Triss feeling something more for the witcher.
But books never dive deep into a love triangle. Hissrich explains on the show that Geralt mourns Yennefer, believing she is dead. He is not ready to move on. When it comes to Triss, her feelings for Geralt aren’t necessarily about love or sexual attraction.
âWhat we didn’t want was a woman who constantly covets a man she can’t have and who doesn’t grow, learn or change,â Hissrich said. The showrunner explains that Triss’s feelings for Geralt are about coming out of trauma and learning to cope with it.
In Triss’ speech to Geralt, she tries to make him understand that witers are like everyone else. The rumor that they lost their emotions during the Grasses Trial is not real. Ultimately, Triss wants to move past her trauma and feel again, and Geralt is the closest to her.

Hissrich specifies that the Sorcererits season 2 was not intended to develop the famous love triangle. Geralt and Yennefer will always find a way to find each other. But for Triss, she is deeply marked by the events of the witcher finale and wants a connection that falls into “a love triangle trope”.
The story between Geralt and Triss is radically different in video games. Fans on Reddit help explain their romance. âYennefer and Geralt have been together for twenty years. Geralt then lost his memory (the Wild Hunt erased him) and was with Triss for about two years. Triss, infatuated with Geralt for some time, hid what she knew about Geralt and Yen. When he regained his memory he broke up with Triss, âsaid one fan.
Triss and Geralt’s relationship isn’t genuine in video games. Yennefer then learns of Triss’s betrayal later. The Netflix series shows no desire to follow this scenario.
